About
Diana Adorno has been in the IT industry for more than 20 years, working in several countries (Australia, UK, Austria and Malaysia) in a range of roles and now specialises in technical communications, web & information architecture, usability, user-centred design and project management.
She lectured at Murdoch University in Project Management, Business Analysis and Human-Computer Interaction. She has been involved in all aspects of software development throughout her career.
After 10 years as a system documenter (technical writer), she observed that it was simpler to document well designed systems. If only the system could be designed so that it didn't need documenting. Working with the users revealed that an intuitive design doesn't need explaining.
Usable systems are easier to maintain and can produce real savings for an organisation.
She has conducted many usability audits and designs for websites and web applications often finding that with 5-10% effort, there is a significant improvement in usability of the system.
She now works at ThoughtWorks as a User Experience Consultant.
